Hey, I’m CJ Alexander—I’m an alternative Jazz producer and the owner of Aural Alchemists. I help soulful, genre-fluid artists make music that connects with hearts and minds. Specifically, artists drawing from Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, and beyond who are making music that doesn’t fit in one box.

I came up studying Jazz composition and recording arts at Northern Illinois University. Since 2017, I’ve been producing, writing, and engineering everything—DIY recordings in living rooms, professional sessions at Gravity Studios in Chicago, producing 50+ live videos as musical director for Midwest Music Deposit, touring internationally.

I’ve walked miles in the artist’s shoes. 15+ years as a musician, played with rappers, singers, bands—I know how taxing and rewarding this journey is.

Here’s what drives this work: I’m obsessed with how sound transforms into feeling. Music is supposed to move people—create those magical moments that connect on a spiritual level.

That’s why I believe a good song is more than organized sounds. It’s instant, visceral emotional communication. Every lyric, every melody, every sonic choice matters. Music that stands the test of time connects intellectually AND emotionally—not one or the other.

My approach is holistic. I can’t separate songwriting from production from mixing—it’s all connected. That’s what my Jazz training taught me. Everything serves the same emotional vision.
